Roy Daswani, a successful businessman, found true peace and purpose through a personal relationship with Jesus after years of spiritual searching and personal struggle. His life was transformed by God's love, bringing healing, humility, and lasting inner peace.

My name is Raju Premchand Daswani, though many know me as Roy Daswani. I was born in Bombay but now live in the UK. During my childhood, our family moved to Hong Kong for business, and later to Okinawa, through which I learnt to be a salesman from the Sindhis we employed.

Life brought me to the UK, where I worked hard, hoping that financial success would bring fulfilment as well as solve some personal problems. But sadly, this wasn’t the case. Undeterred, I continued to work hard and eventually built up a thriving business. But I faced the personal crisis of a marriage breakdown and divorce which shattered my world – I was broken by the continual disputes we had.

I knew there was a Creator, but I had not yet discovered an authentic connection with Him. I’d grown up with a Hindu heritage and spiritual traditions but only practised them occasionally though I respected that these pujas and religious rituals had fulfilled my mother’s needs.

A Sindhi friend, Deepak, and his wife, came into my life at this time. They offered me unwavering support, listened without judgement, and showed me genuine care. I noticed that their connection with Jesus, their Guru and Saviour, brought them an inner peace that was truly inspiring. I began to ask questions, not out of a search for a new religion, but out of my desire for friendship. I found myself drawn to Jesus’ compassion, which I saw as the source of their kindness.

I’d seen myself as a good man – decent, successful. But as I read the Bible, I came to recognise the pride within me. I began asking Jesus to change my heart and invited him to take control of my life. During this time, I made new friends who answered my questions, and through them I experienced a level of community that I’d not experienced before. Then, one morning, I woke with a peace I’d never known. I realised that something fundamental had changed. God had come into my life, and I was humbled by his kindness for accepting me. As I walked through London’s streets, I found myself wanting to bless every passerby! I can truly say that I saw them with love, free of judgement - my heart had been set free.

From that moment my life completely changed. Jesus’ peace, his Shanti, settled in me and replaced the sense of shame and guilt that I’d carried for so long. I began treating others with genuine care, rather than calculation. My family could see the difference in me - I grew closer to my children.

In the past, life often felt like a runaway train, running out of control. But now, I had comfort and peace knowing that Jesus, the one who held me, could control that “train”, and the assurance helped me sleep much better.

I can truly say that now I know God—not through rituals, but through my Guru and Saviour, Jesus. He accepts me as I am, gives me purpose as part of his family, and provides security by guiding me.

To my Sindhi brothers and sisters, I want to share this: Jesus is not a myth - he is the way to the Father, restoring our bond with God. Through him I have been made spiritually alive, as he promises in the Bible: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
